The industry was agog about how box office numbers were pretty low this summer compared to previous years. I am not one to talk but I am definitely not the target audience for summer blockbusters. Infact, of the 20 movies listed below, I have only seen 2. Anyways, a little change was still made but according to Box Office Mojo, these are the 20 top grossing movies of the summer ( May 2 – Sep 1)
20. Planes: Fire and Rescue – $57.2 million
19. Let’s be Cops – $59.7 million
18. Think Like a Man Too – $65.2 million
17. Hercules – $71.1 million
16. The Purge: Anarchy – $71.1 million
15. Tammy – $83.4 million
14. Edge of Tomorrow – $100 million
13. Lucy – $118.6 million
12. The Fault in Our Stars – $124.5 million
11. Neighbors – $150.1 million
10. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – $166.4 million
9. How to Train Your Dragon 2 – $173.5 million
8. 22 Jump Street – $190.3 million
7. Godzilla – $200.7 million
6. The Amazing Spiderman 2 – $202.9 million

3. Maleficent – $238.7 million
