That time again. Year end lists out the wazoo. In case you have been under a rock, we are in peak TV era. Peak TV meaning we have A LOT of TV shows available for viewing. So much TV that it is humanely impossible to watch them all. In fact, a lot of shows that you might be expecting to be on the list probably aren’t on simply because I just couldn’t keep up (also, probably it just didn’t make it for me).
As at the time of writing this some shows I wished I had seen – new season of Goliath, Mrs. Maisel, The Boys, Unbelievable, Russian Doll, Good Fight in its entirety and so many more. I feel ashamed :(. I hope I remember all the good stuff I watched. You can see the lists from previous years here for 2015, 2016 , 2017 and 2018:
- Sex Education: This British import was a delight to watch with high schoolers having way more sex than they should (Netflix)
- Bojack Horseman: Bojack has yet to fail me. I am so sad to see it go next year (Netflix)
- Surviving R. Kelly: I legit felt chills watching this series. The heart of man is wicked indeed (Lifetime. Available for streaming on Netflix)
- Dead to Me: Didn’t see the twist in episode 1 coming. The rest of the show is entertaining and Christina Applegate gives her best work. My review of it here (Netflix)
- Game of Thrones: Not sure what everyone was up in arms for. GoT has always been uneven to me but I thoroughly enjoyed the final season (HBO)
- Special: This was cutesy and an easy watch (Netflix)
- Ramy: Ramy is of Egyptian heritage and we see his life through his cultural and religious (he is Muslim) lens. Ramy wants to be a good guy so badly but needs to embrace he is a shitty person (Hulu)
- Four Weddings and a Funeral: Really enjoyed this cutesy show about the romantic lives of american friends from college who all now live in London (Hulu)
- The Masked Singer: This show brought the biggest smile to my face each and every single time (Fox)
- The Kominsky Method: This was a sleeper hit. It hit me in between the season and in my umpteenth laugh out loud that I really like this show (Netflix)
- Watchmen: Damon Lindelof solidifies that he knows how to tell a story (HBO)
- Catastrophe: A fitting end to a wonderful show. I love how realistic it was (Amazon)
Special shout out to: Euphoria, Fleabag, Leaving Neverland, Barry, Couples Therapy
That’s it folks. Let me know what you agree with and what you think was missing?
Happy Holidays!
