I have theories about Stevie being raised in Rotterdam. It doesn’t necessarily make a reason for it, but I think Isaiah is her first serious relationship. Since she grew up in Rotterdam until she was 16, but her family is all from D.C., that probably made it harder to relate to boys from Rotterdam. Then as a young woman she might not have connected well to American men because she would be caught between the cultures of D.C. and Rotterdam. Also, I think that her friend and cousin seem much more knowledgeable about guys during that conversation after she takes Isaiah to meet her parents. This makes me think she doesn’t have a lot of experience. For the ending I watched this with my sister, and we’re torn. Spoilers for anyone reading without seeing the movie. I took it as that they would always love each other, but they probably won’t be together, while my sister thinks the ending means Isaiah’s matured and now he will be with Stevie.
Thanks for stopping by! Re: the ending that is so true, its open to interpretation but I am more inclined to agree with you.
